About
A small software house. One developer you actually talk to.
GoByte is new. The experience behind it isn't. This page is the honest version of who you'd be working with.
The person
Stefanos Giannakis
Founder, and the developer on every project. I started GoByte after years of contract work on systems where mistakes are expensive: a food delivery platform taking live orders at dinner rush, classifieds sites with millions of listings, fintech products where every transaction has to reconcile, and high-security applications under real traffic. That's the standard I hold a practice website to, as much as a SaaS platform.
I work in Laravel and Go, with cross-platform mobile when a project needs an app. GoByte Software Ltd is registered in London, and everything from the first call to the contract happens in English or Greek, whichever you prefer.
On the side I build and run Punapai, a product of my own. Running something live keeps me honest about what shipping and maintaining software actually costs.
Where the experience comes from
Four kinds of systems that teach you discipline.
None of this is GoByte client work. It's mine, from before GoByte existed, and it's why I'm comfortable promising what I promise further down.
Food delivery
Orders don't wait. When the kitchen screen stalls at eight on a Friday night, you find out exactly how good your queueing and error handling really are.
Classifieds
Millions of listings, search running all day, and a public that will find every edge case you didn't test.
Fintech
Every number has to reconcile to the cent, and "it worked on my machine" is not an answer anyone accepts.
High security, high traffic
Access control, audit trails and load you can't rehearse for. The habits from that work don't switch off for smaller projects.
How a project runs
What working with me looks like.
The same four steps whether it's a practice website or a platform with paying users.
-
1
A call, then a written plan
Thirty minutes to understand the problem. Within a few days you get a document with scope, approach, timeline and a fixed quote. No obligation.
-
2
Weekly demos on a real URL
You see working software every week, not slides. Scope changes are discussed in the open, with the cost of each one.
-
3
You own everything
Code in your repository, hosting in your account, domains in your name. If we part ways you lose nothing.
-
4
Launch isn't the end
Monitoring, backups and updates as a small fixed monthly fee, or a handover document if you'd rather run it yourself.
Honesty
Things I'll say no to.
-
WordPress theme customisation
There are cheaper people for that, and they'll do it better.
-
Scope nobody can write down
I'll help you write it first. Then we talk about building it.
-
Learning on your budget
If a project needs a specialist I'm not, I'll say so and point you to one.
-
Promising a track record I don't have
GoByte has no client case studies yet. You get my background, my process and a fixed quote instead of invented logos.
Want to talk it through?
Describe the project in a few sentences. You'll get a straight answer about whether I'm the right fit, and a plan if I am.
