In short: we run a marketing website. The only personal data we hold about you is what you send through the contact form, plus standard server logs and Google Analytics — and the latter only runs if you accept analytics cookies. We don't sell or share your data for marketing.
Who we are
This site is operated by GOBYTE SOFTWARE LTD ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England & Wales.
- Company number: 16769913
- Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom
- Contact: stefanos@gobyte.software
We are the data controller for personal data collected through gobyte.software.
What we collect and why
1. Information you give us through the contact form
When you submit the contact form on the homepage, we receive the name, email address, subject, and message you provide. We use this to reply to your enquiry and follow up about the work you're asking about.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests (responding to enquiries about our services).
Retention: up to 24 months from the last contact, after which the message is deleted unless we have an active engagement with you.
2. Server logs
Our web server records each request to the site, including the IP address, the URL requested, the HTTP status code, the response time, and the timestamp. These logs help us diagnose problems, detect abuse, and keep the site reliable.
Lawful basis: legitimate interests (security and service operation).
Retention: up to 30 days, then rotated and overwritten.
3. Analytics cookies (only with your consent)
If you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are read, broad geography, device type. This is set up with Google Consent Mode v2; until you accept, no analytics cookies are written and no identifying signals are sent. If you later change your mind through the "Cookie preferences" button, we clear the analytics cookies and reload the page.
Lawful basis: consent. You can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share data with
We don't sell personal data and we don't share it for advertising. We do use a small number of trusted service providers ("processors") to run the site:
- Hetzner Online GmbH — hosting (servers located in Germany).
- Google LLC — Google Analytics (visitor analytics, only with consent) and Google Workspace (the inbox that receives our enquiries).
- Google LLC — Google Fonts (typography). Loading fonts from Google's CDN reveals your IP address and the page you're on to Google.
- jsDelivr (Prospect One) and Cloudflare (cdnjs) — CDNs that serve some of the JavaScript and icon assets on the site.
If a court order, regulator, or other lawful request requires us to disclose information, we will comply — but we'll push back on anything that looks overbroad.
International transfers
Some of our processors are based outside the UK and EEA (notably Google in the United States). When personal data leaves the UK, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision where one is in place.
Cookies
We use two kinds of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — the cookie that remembers your consent choice. Always on; you can't sensibly opt out of this one.
- Analytics — Google Analytics cookies (
_ga,_ga_*,_gid,_gat). Off by default; on only if you accept.
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" button in the bottom-left corner of any page.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Have your data deleted, where we have no continuing reason to keep it.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (use the "Cookie preferences" button).
- Receive a portable copy of data you provided to us.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've handled your data badly. We'd rather you tell us first so we can fix it.
To exercise any of these rights, email stefanos@gobyte.software. We'll respond within one month.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, surface the change through the consent banner. The current version is always at this URL.
